We’re living in interesting times.  Mainstream news is full of doom and gloom about our economy, while my email inbox is filling with stories (from people I have gotten to know, not strangers in Nigeria) from what I’ll call “new energy” entrepreneurs whose businesses are doing better than ever. 

So what’s up?  Are some people “telling the hard truth” while others are “filling our heads with happy talk”?  I don’t think so.  I think that everyone is telling their truth – and we get to decide which wagon train we want to join.

What’s really going on here?  I believe that we in the midst of one of those economic transformations similar to the transition from a farm economy into an industrial economy.  The old ways of doing business are breaking down as new ways are thriving.  It is painful for many, but fantastic for those who have the flexibility and openness to go with the changes.  It will be up to future historians to “label” this period in time, but it’s clear to me that nothing will ever “go back to normal”.

The businesses that I see as ‘doing well’ seem to have several things in common.  They all operate in integrity, provide great service, focus on where they want to go and who they want to work with, provide “win-win” opportunities, and seem to be run and staffed by people who truly enjoy what they are doing.  These businesses are an off-shoot of someone’s dream and passion, and that shows in everything they do.

So what does this mean to you and to me?  First of all, there is no value in longing for the way things used to be, nor is there value in worrying about tomorrow.  Ask yourself:  where am I now?  What would I like to experience next?  I ask for clarity from my higher levels, and keep my eyes and mind open for the door that will take me to my next step.

To the best of my ability (and some days are better than others), I live my life in integrity, I provide great service to my clients, I love what I am doing, I live for the “win-win”, and I keep my focus on what I desire and where I want to go.  I go with the flow and, so far, have a great time wherever I land.  When I find myself falling into fear about the future, I stop and give myself the gift of a “do-over”.

Ask your higher levels for clarity, for assistance in seeing what your next step should be, and for anything else that you require.  This is truly an abundant universe, with more than enough for everyone.  Be open to doing things in a new way, and you might be surprised at how successful you will be.

And, when you hear someone wailing on about how the world is quickly coming to an end, just sing along with R.E.M.: “It’s the end of the world as we know it - and I feel fine!”

Travelite

I built a reminder to "travel light" into my landscaping by installing a step that's imprinted with "Travelite".  When people came to visit, and I show them around, I usually point it out. 

This reminder has multiple meanings to me.  On the surface, it reminds me to not accumulate too much stuff.  Next, it reminds me to not be so attached to my stuff.  Then it goes into the emotions and cellular memories and reminds me of how much emotional baggage I can let go of, and to release cellular memories when they present.

Just the awareness and willingness to "let go" makes life easier for me.  So, in these times of many changes in our world, let's travel light - together, and go with the flow. 

I still have a lot of physical belongings, yet without a strong attachment to them, there is no burden in carrying them - just the joy of playing with my belongings and sharing them.
