So often I hear the plea, I want to know my purpose, including coming from me, and yet we all struggle so with what that is. Most likely, it varies greatly from one person to another. Yet I believe our presence on earth is all about the same, learning to love one another even in our differences, striving toward one goal, one God, supporting the masses with the vast diversity of each of our talents.

I personally went around asking advice from many sources as to what that was for me. And while there are tests that can confirm your natural strengths, intuits who can suggest this or that, and even some answers to heart felt prayers, it still boils down to each of us having to make our own decisions. I don’t believe there is a right or wrong choice. The whole point is it is our choice. And that is where the letting ‘it’ shine comes in. That is, letting the dream shine. Tom Bird said it this way – “We are blessed with dreams and desires and not plagued by them”. I believe that each of us carries a special gift inside, something we treasure deeply, protect fiercely and for more than one reason, hesitate to reveal to anyone, sometimes including ourselves.  

I finally surrendered to the fact that I simply was not going to be happy until I gave some real honest effort to the two dreams that I almost let die because something mysterious was holding me back. All along, I sought out various healing modalities which assisted in baby step progress but I still was incapable of moving completely forward. Finally, I made the decision to give my dreams some serious effort, sought professional teachers for both of them, made the commitment to give it X amount of time and if I was not able to progress, well then, at least I tried and this nagging within would finally be silenced! Once I had made the decision, I was guided to a skilled Shamanic Healer who was able to retrieve that part of my soul that was lost to me a long time ago. It was her talents that made me whole again and removed the blocks to a destiny I had all but given up on.

My purpose was found when my healing went deep enough to finally give my dream a chance. I suggest that whatever is your deepest yearning may just be your biggest gift to the world. Don’t take no for an answer, especially from yourself. Let it shine.
