Waking up excited to start the day, knowing it would be a grand adventure, I invited Sara from Illinois who agreed to explore the stone circles with me.  We traveled to the Beara Peninsula and followed a narrow road lined with hedges of dense fuchsias, which seemed to go on forever through small villages.  The bumpy dirt road wound its way off through pastures and we spotted a tiny sign announcing Beara Stone Circle, a Neolithic Bronze Age ritual site.  We found it!

When you come here take your wellies, (rain boots) with you.  It’s always WET in Ireland.

The wind pushed on my body as I made my way through the fields of wet grass and mud up to the circle. The Beara Stone circle is surrounded by awe inspiring waterfalls on one side and lakes below winding down to the ocean.

Feelings tumbled through my body and the awareness of this ancient site way off the beaten path was overwhelming.  This is thousands of years old!   This is from the time of moon, sun, star and land worship.  It is honoring our Mother Earth and her cycles to sustain life.  I was being nourished by the land, my senses filled with possibilities and the acute knowledge that I am such a minute part of an endless cosmic plan that is perfect.  How did they put these stones in place?  What have we forgotten?  One stone was 7 or 8 ft. above ground!

Pulling myself away from our exploration, we hopped back in the car to make it down the muddy track and on to Skibbereen located at the bottom of the Isle by nightfall.

Ireland is food for the soul. The next morning we set out for the Drombeg Stone Circle, unaware of the impact it would have on me.  A small sign led to a parking lot and a well trimmed path led to the site.  Fuchsias grow in hedges here and were well trimmed guiding us to the entrance of the circle.

Oh my–I caught my breath, oh my, it’s a stunning well kept circle.  It’s big.  I respectfully approached her and asked to enter.  The presence of the circle is still with me when I close my eyes and remember.  There were 17 stones, some taller than me.

I stepped in and felt instantly at peace AHHH --- I am not leaving (I said out loud).

I instantly felt her, the Earth Mother of all, the peace.  I felt content.  I did not know what to expect.

I leaned against the entrance stone on the left.  Wow!  The connection!!  My whole body felt alive.  Leaning against the stone for several minutes as I was feeling the vibration that was flowing through my body was like being downloaded with ancient information.

Then I moved around the circle to each stone in the same way.  Each magnificent stone felt different to me.  I felt blue, saw blue, and was infused with blue energy, feeling completely connected and energized.  One stone gave me the color fuchsia and the energy was centered at my 3rd eye and the 6th chakra, beautiful and very soothing.  The next stone I felt at my 3rd chakra, the solar plexus and was soft, yellow, warm, content.  As I sat on a low stone there was so much red root energy vibrating within me.  It flowed around in circles in my sacrum healing me, reminding me as my body woke up to the sacred energy stored within my first chakra.

At the 5th stone, I remembered my Malachite, Carnelian gem stone necklaces, and bracelets and set them each on stones for clearing and to behold the energy.  I felt every chakra and more powerful energy as I made my way around the seventeen stones.

How many tourists see this, take pictures, and fail to notice the magic that was there?   There were also cooking areas and guiding rocks in the same area.  It felt very important!

Reluctantly I left to travel over the breathtaking Healy Pass and back to Killarney a lovely city with so much charm.  The following day I set out to see the Ring of Kerry, but it didn’t feel right to me so I chose to bypass it and went the other way.
