This past week, I got myself out of the house and took our car to the shop for some repairs and new tires. Rather than sit at the shop and wait, I had the courtesy driver take me to a nearby Mall where I could window-shop and people-watch. This particular Mall has a play area for toddlers with lots of things to climb on, crawl through, and jump off of. The floor is extra padded and the area is surrounded with a gigantic comfy couch for the parents to sit and watch their kids.
After some window shopping and a bite of lunch, I decided to go and watch the little ones play. I sat on the comfy couch and watched in amazement as the play area swirled with activity. Children were everywhere at once – in constant motion! Some ran in circles around the toy structures, while others crawled through them, and others attempted to climb the structures and jump off.
In all of this activity, I saw dozens of extremely close near-misses, where a running child almost collided with a crawling one or a jumping one. And yet, no collisions – and no trepidation or fear among the kids or their parents. In the hour or so that I sat and watched, not one child got hurt (other than one little boy whose feelings were hurt when a little girl didn’t want to play with him – but that’s another story).
This was a place where the normal rules of child protection didn’t seem necessary. No one looked before they leaped, or looked both ways before crossing, or had to be wary of strangers. These kids were having fun – and they were completely taken care of and watched over. It was a wonder to behold and a blessing of a reminder.
Watching these kids, I was reminded to have fun for no other reason than to have fun! It doesn’t have to cost a bunch of money (or any money). It doesn’t require planning and preparation. Just be on the lookout for fun opportunities – and take full advantage of them when you find them. Fully enjoy yourself and know that your higher levels have got you covered. When it’s time to move on from the playground, go – knowing that you had a blast and that you can have this much fun anytime you want.
Talking To My Higher Self
Just as an exercise, I asked my Higher Levels: "What am I here for?"
My mind was hoping for some valuable and significant answer: something big that would change the world! So, I told my mind to "take a break" and let the answer come through from my higher levels of consciousness. Since I've practiced this for awhile now, it doesn't take long anymore for answers to present. (Isn't it funny how things get easier with practice?)
Well, the answer came quickly. I am here to have fun. That's it! No more, no less.
Well, that sure makes life easier! All I have to do is ask myself; "is this fun?" When the answer is "yes", I go ahead. When the answer is "no", I change direction and start the process over.
Can life really be that easy? Well, for me, it is - for now.
My mind still thinks that "creating world peace" or "saving the planet" would have been better answers. So, thank you, Mind, for your input. Let's have fun now.
Life is good!
